Working Out What a Bonus Actually Costs

The headline percentage is the least useful number on any offer. What decides whether a bonus is worth taking is its turnover requirement — the total you must stake before the balance unlocks — and the arithmetic is simple enough to do in your head once you have seen it done once.

Two hypothetical offers, to show the method. Say one is a 100% match on a MYR 200 deposit at 10x turnover. You are playing with MYR 400 and must stake MYR 4,000 before anything can leave. Say the other is a 50% match on the same deposit at 3x: MYR 300 to play with, and MYR 900 of staking. The smaller headline is roughly a quarter of the work. On a game returning around 96%, that MYR 4,000 of turnover carries an expected cost near MYR 160 — which is most of the MYR 200 the bonus handed you.

The rule that falls out of it: divide the turnover requirement by the bonus you receive and compare that figure between offers, not the percentages. A large bonus with a heavy requirement regularly loses to a modest one with a light touch.
